Company Profile: Fork Union Military Academy, founded in 1898, is an all-boys college preparatory boarding school for boys in grades 6-12, plus a postgraduate year. This post grad program can be especially beneficial for international students who have graduated from high school and want to come to the U.S. for our ESL program and advanced classes before going on to college. Our school is ranked one of the elite military boarding schools in the U.S., sending our graduates to top colleges/universities. Our program is designed to focus on academics, while including character building, focus and structure in the student's daily routine. We are not connected with any branch in the U.S. military system. Our founder, Dr. William Hatcher, preferred the word "Military" in our school name, because he appreciated the structure, focus, and leadership skills of a military system and how those traits could help young men become successful. Fork Union Military Academy (FUMA) continues that tradition today. The "One Subject Plan" method of teaching, unique to FUMA, has become a cornerstone of our Upper School and has had a transformative effect on the academic lives and grades of our FUMA students.
