In 1902, St. Cloud was a growing community of approximately 8,500 people when plans for a Catholic high school were being implemented. Sister Eleanor Irwing, OSB, principal of the Holy Angels Grade School, with approval of Father Edward Jones, pastor of Holy Angels Parish, opened a ninth grade of 25 students, thus beginning a high school. Each successive year thereafter another grade was added until a four-year high school curriculum was established. Over 100 years later, Cathedral enrolls approximately 660 students in grades 7-12 that come from the local area and around the world.
