Waitakere College is situated in a major suburb of New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland, with easy transport options to both rural and city areas. The train station is a 5 minute walk from our school, and beautiful rainforest and beach environments are on our doorstep.
Established in 1975, we have around 1400 students from many nationalities and backgrounds. Therefore, our students learn to work with the variety of people they will meet in global environments, and develop skills through inquiry-based learning that will give them great opportunities and choices in their life beyond school.
We specialise in understanding our international students very well, especially their interests and strengths, to develop appropriate programmes for them personally. We have a strong Careers Department for vocational guidance, and highly skilled ESOL department.
Our wide range of NCEA / University Entrance subjects includes practical technical subjects as well as academic, and EAP (English for Academic Purposes) and English-as-a-second-language programmes. We offer friendly ‘Kiwi buddies’ who help with the transition to a new school and country.
