The NSTS International Academy operates within the framework of the NSTS Foundation, a non-profit NGO which has the objective of promoting educational projects with an international perspective.

The NSTS English Language Institute which is part of the Academy welcomed the first group of students visiting Malta specifically to learn English in 1963. NSTS has since been the leading innovator of the Malta English Experience. It is a founding member the FELTOM and of the ALTO, has driven ELT national quality assurance and student protection regulations in Malta. It is also recognised by the University of Cambridge as a training centre for its CELTA qualification. The Institute is accredited by the EFL Monitoring Board and FELTOM.

It's language courses for adults are characterised by their small class size, allowing for greater student focus and participation and it caters for a wide spectrum of learners, from young school children learning English during their summer vacation to the busy executives of multi-national companies. It caters both for individual students as well as group programmes and runs vacation programmes for kids and teens.

The NSTS International Academy is licenced by the National Commission for Further and Higher Education and offers business study courses leading to the Level 4 qualification set by the Association of Business Executives. This is combined with exam preparation course in English as a University Foundation Course. It also runs WorkExperience Programmes in collaboration with private and public organisations including universities as well as a High School Gap Year Programme and a Vocational Gap Year Programme.

The NSTS Academy also represents leading educational institutions in Malta for the placement of students in the International Baccalaureate Programme and tertiary level vocational courses.
