Ashbourne has always set its goal to be the best private A-level college in the UK. For many years, based on A-level academic results, Ashbourne has consistently ranked among the top two private sixth form colleges in London. Our students achieve outstanding results, with an average of 51% A*A for A-level results achieved over the past ten years. More than 60% of our students have secured places at Russell Group universities in each of the past five years, with UCL and KCL being the most popular destinations.
Ashbourne students significantly outperform the national average for value-added progress, placing the college in the top 2.5% of schools and sixth forms nationwide. This success is supported by structured one-to-one mentoring, subject-specific workshops, small classes, and a culture that leaves no stone unturned in pursuit of academic excellence. We are a selective school, and students are surrounded by peers who are ambitious and committed. We set very high expectations, and attendance, homework completion, and mock exam performance are all closely monitored.
Since the 1990s, Ashbourne has welcomed over 266 Chinese students. Our long-standing commitment to China is reflected not only in our recruitment history but also in our staff team. Several members of staff, including Chinese nationals, speak Chinese fluently, enabling parents to receive immediate updates in their own language. We regularly visit China and continue to maintain strong links with students and families. During our trip to China each academic year, we are able to offer prospective students and families the chance to meet our team, and giving current parents the opportunity to attend in-person Parents’ Evenings and progress check-ins.
Ashbourne’s central London location in Kensington is a key advantage. Just around the corner from Imperial College London and within walking distance of world-renowned museums, galleries, parks, and cultural institutions, our students benefit fully from the academic, cultural, and social opportunities the city offers. We also pride ourselves on our warm and inclusive environment. While over 60% of our students are from the UK, we welcome students from more than 40 nationalities, creating a truly international atmosphere for Chinese students. There is no school uniform, and students refer to teachers by their first names, reflecting the respectful and mature culture of the college. We encourage independence while providing strong academic and personal support. Our teachers motivate students to take ownership of their learning, and those who do so are well positioned to achieve outstanding results.
